Steve Reynolds and Me
Two days after it happened I heard that my good friend and guitar duet buddy Steve Reynolds had passed away on 3rd January 2021
I'm devastated. He was a great guy. It was only in Dec 2020 I put up this page on my website, as I was missing our duet sessions together, stopped by Covid 19.
I have now edited it to be a tribute to him, a kind and generous man, a great guitarist and a really good friend.
The page is a record of how we met and became good friends.

How Steve and I met
Around ten years ago I had been browsing through the Shadows Club page (http://www.shadowmusic.co.uk/) one day and I came across Steve Reynolds wanting to start a band. I didn't know Steve then and I didn't want to be in a band, however, I saw a like minded person who was possibly interested in getting together for a jam.
I contacted him and we arranged to meet up. We met in the Golden Lion in Romford marketplace. Steve had signed up to an "Open Mic" night and played a few Shadows tunes whilst I enjoyed a pint.
Steve tried to convince me to start a band with him, but I had learned at a very early age that that wasn't for me. Somehow he even managed to twist my arm into doing a test session, hiring a room in the Braintree Town Hall. We had a good laugh with Jim Tidmarsh on bass and Ron Innes on drums, but I was still unconvinced about joining a band.
Since those early beginnings we became very good friends. We started to meet up every month or so for a jam session and these eventually turned into fairly regular Thursday evening duet recording sessions, with a takeaway from the chippy.
We played lots of duets together and posted them on YouTube, until COVID 19 came along and spoilt everything. I was hoping things would get back to normal in 2021.
We both had very different upbringings in very different decades, but we both had the same passion for instrumental music, particularly The Shadows.
Steve went on to form a band called The Wannabe Shadows in which he played lead guitar. It was Steve's passion. They will miss him so much.
